You can’t purchase a Walk Around Philadelphia Circumnavigator pin. You earn them by exploring the entire city perimeter, one step at a time.
Have you completed the whole walk? Send us your documentation & come to our next Circumnavigator awards to get your pin!
You can do it
At any age
Our youngest Circumnavigator (so far) completed the entire walk at age 11. Our eldest set out to explore the edge at age 96.
We’d love to have you join their ranks, and you can start with just one step.
And if the Walk isn’t for you, maybe you know someone who’d enjoy it?
Honoring those who have completed a full loop around the city
We’re all circumnavigators and edge explorers here, but when we talk about “Circumnavigators” with a capital “C”, we are referring to the people who have walked the entire perimeter of Philadelphia at least once.
Every single journey is different, but our Circumnavigators share a humbling appreciation for the vast complexity of Philadelphia’s margins.
To walk the entire city border is no small undertaking, and we are proud of them! Join us in December for our Year-end Celebration and Circumnavigator Awards to hear all about it directly from them.
Some people walk the whole perimeter in a single week or month. Some circle the city across multiple seasons or years. Some pick contiguous segments, others complete it piecemeal. Some begin on a group walk and finish on their own — or the other way around.
There’s no single “right” way to complete the Walk.
What matters is the care, curiosity, and attention brought to the journey.
