Walking the city’s edge is simple — most of what you need, you already have. Here’s how we think about gear and goodies:
Bring Your Own Essentials
Please come prepared with the basics you need for a safe and comfortable walk.

(Weather layers, snacks, water, sunscreen… the usual walking-outside-for-a-while stuff.)
Borrow from us
On our group walks, we provide a small set of gear to help keep our groups visible, cohesive, and safe:
- Reflective safety belts (to make sure we’re visible)
- Walk Around Philadelphia lanyards (to explain what we’re doing)
- White walk pennant flags (to show that we come in peace)
These items help identify us as a shared walking group — and make it easier to look out for one another along the edges. Please return borrowed gear at the end of the walk so it can continue supporting future walkers.
Merch & Souvenirs
At select events and gatherings, you’ll find a small but growing collection of Walk Around Philadelphia items available for suggested donations — including:
- Stickers
- Patches
- T-shirts
- Letterpress map prints
- Heart-shaped Philly Love pins
- (and more coming soon!)
Purchases help support the Walk’s ongoing growth and accessibility — and give you a way to carry a little bit of the perimeter with you.
