BIG NEWS: All of the fall walk events are now live at: https://www.walkaroundphiladelphia.org/events
There hasn’t yet been much activity on these forums (that’s normal, we’re taking it one step at a time in building an organic community outside of the realms of advertisements, algorithms & corporate control, not trying to go viral on instagrump) but there has been a *whole lot* going on in the background:
- We’ve been working through the big back-end administrative transition of moving our fiscal sponsorship
- We got over 250 applicants for our recent job posting, and have been working through that process in as careful a way as possible. One candidate said “This is the most humane rejection letter that I’ve ever gotten” and several others have expressed gratitude for our transparency and communication. Turns out it’s a lot of work to hire someone!
- We’ve been building some little bits of back-end infrastructure that is making it smoother and easier to automate some elements of the many complex logistics associated with building our walk events. Hopefully you won’t see any more placeholder slip-ups like “You are registering to walk from {start point} toward {destination}” – there’s still many places for potential errors, so please notify us if you spot any errors with transit times or encounter any other glitches.
- And we’re going to be having a major tabling & outreach presence at the 2026 Black Star Film Festival! Hooray!
We’re still looking for a few extra helpers as co-facilitators, trail angels etc, so make sure you’re getting our volunteer updates if you’re interested in any of that.
